On October 7, 2016, the main bridge of Huainan Kongli Huai River Bridge achieved overall incremental launching joining up. The Huainan Kongli Huai River Bridge, with the total length of 5.319 km, stretches across left and right branch channels of the Huai River. The main shipping channel bridge of the right branch is the (110+180+110)m three-span continuous steel box arch bridge, while the channel bridge of the left branch is the (85+140+85)m variable cross-section concrete continuous box girder bridge, which was closed in May 2016.
The main shipping channel bridge of the right branch joined up this time, different from middle-span closure by the construction from both ends at the same time, adopts beam and arch overall incremental launching method, that is, an assembling platform is erected in the river bank, the arch ring, the main stringer, transverse beams and other main structures are assembled in the platform and then the bridge closure will be achieved by the overall incremental launching of beams and the arch ring (the main arch ring is 45m high). The ATCDI has only experience in incremental launching of the main beam, and it is the first time of beams and arch overall incremental launching.
The main shipping channel bridge of the right branch is three-span continuous structure, the design and production of steel beams and steel arch ring are complex, the overall weight is large, the stability requirements is high and the force has been in a state of continuous change during the overall incremental launching of the main beam and the 45-m high arch ring. They are key and difficult points of the project.
